Stewart Services does not have a typical warehouse. We have a series of fully stocked tool trailers that circulate around the country during outage season. During the off-season, these tool trailers are strategically located at plants so that we can mobilize to almost any jobsite in the United States with a 14 hour notice.
Stewart Services does not represent any of the refractory manufacturers. We believe that being independent of the vendors is valuable to the customer and keeps us completely impartial to the materials that the plant selects. At times, we will team up with vendors to pursue a particular project.
Of course. However, we have found that the customer receives the optimum value by purchasing the materials direct and avoiding our markup. Stewart Services will compile a complete "Bill-of-Material" that is required for an outage and give it to the plant. We will also give recommendations of products that we know have a great performance record.
Stewart Services does not just provide and install products. Stewart Services’ goal is to improve the value and efficiency of the plants’ refractory usage. These ideas apply not only to easily measured short term monetary savings, but also the harder to measure items such as long term gains, reliability / reduction of downtime, indirect safety incident costs, manpower, productivity, marginal utility, continuous plant improvements, etc. Stewart Services also provides engineering recommendations and designs for our customers rather than just completing a provided scope. Please contact us for more details of how we achieve this goal.
Stewart Services can handle almost any aspect of an outage. With our Mechanical and Scaffold divisions, there are few undertakings on any given project that we cannot handle. For most outage projects, the refractory work is critical path. Therefore, in order to provide the most organized and cost effective outage for our customer, we work to manage the entire outage. This includes coordinating equipment deliveries, plant personnel projects, and projects of other contractors. It’s in both Stewart Services and our customers’ best interest that bottlenecks and schedule issues, even those outside our control, are managed properly to achieve the overall safety, quality, and outage duration goals.
Stewart Services can handle a few large outages at the same time. Typically during outage season we always have multiple projects going on. We have had crews up to +350 workers employed concurrently.
Stewart Services gives Part 46 training to all its personnel on an annual basis. We also have Trainers on-site for most major outages to provide MSHA training if additional manpower is required. Stewart Services’ MSHA Training Plan is stamped by MSHA with approval and we have also been commended for our excellent training, documentation, and inspection results.
Manpower is the backbone of any successful construction project. The optimum value and ultimate success of a project relies on skilled supervisors and craftsmen with experience in these industries and this type of work on a regular basis. Stewart Services has a stellar group of these craftsmen that travel to every project. This core group consists of the best-of-class personnel in the Refractory, Mechanical, and Scaffold Industry. This group is responsible for our site supervision, productivity, safety, quality, and procedures. Our core group is complimented by local talent as required.
Stewart Services is set up in most of the continental United States to conduct business. We also maintain our Contractor's Licenses in the states we work in which that is a requirement. Stewart Services' insurance (worker's compensation, general liability and auto) covers the entire United States. Please contact us for information on your particular location.
It is Stewart Services’ intention to expand all of our customers’ knowledge of refractory and refractory construction to a point that it becomes a "core competence" area. We understand that the more that is learned about our field, the more that is understood about the value of the services we provide. We also can provide mini-seminars for our customers based on information that they are most interested.
Stewart Services’ first project was in January 2002. At that time we had 1 tool trailer and limited resources. Since that time we have added about 14 tool trailers to our fleet and have developed the best manpower and procedures in the business. We currently work all over the country in cement, lime, power, and other industries. Contact us for a complete reference list.
We started our business because we realized that the refractory construction industry had a desperate need for a contractor that could help solve refractory reliability issues. Our ultimate success is due to our customers that have seen the effects of a well orchestrated outage and the resulting refractory performance. These customers have continued to utilize our expertise and have helped us expand into other accounts within and outside of their respective companies.
